Where TM comes from

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
Founder of the TM Programme
"Transcendental Meditation is a simple procedure to enliven the most basic level of life, the field of inner intelligence, and thereby raise every individual and every society to their full dignity.
Happiness is the goal of everyone. TM is a natural way to let your mind settle, to reach inwards, and to find a field of total peace, silence, and harmony. Effortlessly, naturaly. What you experience there, and then is total happiness, utter bliss.
Here is a royal path for anyone to solve problems, improve health, and live in peace, with a most rapid pace of progress.”
The Tradition of Vedic Masters
The knowledge of Transcendental Meditation has been kept lively and pure in the Vedic tradition of India, the world's oldest tradition of knowledge.
Veda means truth, or knowledge, and this tradition provides knowledge about many areas of life. For example Yoga comes from the Vedic tradition, as does Ayurveda, the world's most ancient system of natural health care, and Sthapatya Veda, or Vastu Vidya – knowledge about building in tune with Natural Law.
In modern times the knowledge of Transcendental Meditation has been spread by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maharishi received the technique from his Teacher with whom he studied for many years, before inaugurating a world-wide movement to spread the knowledge of Transcendental Meditation around the world in 1957.
Transcendental Meditation is a technique. It does not involve or require any faith or belief. It simply utilises the natural tendency of the mind to settle down and experience the least excited state of consciousness, a state of restful alertness. Transcendental Meditation is now established in just about every country around the world.
